The Next Generation - The Rechtspfleger’s Youth of Europe

Students, the next generation

The director of the study center of the department for finances and law in Rotenburg/Fulda, Dr. Peter Müller-Engelmann, had invited the university for applied science on administration to a European Day on 4 May 2009. After lectures on tax law and company law the board of the European Union of Rechtspfleger (E.U.R.), represented by the president, Mr. Thomas Kappl, and the general secretary, Mrs. Adelheid
Hell, had the possibility to present the organization and the Green Paper for a European Rechtspfleger.

The students, who are the next generation of the Rechtspfleger, listened to Mr. Kappl, who was presenting the history of the E.U.R., which is more than 40 years old. The founders of the E.U.R., Rechtspfleger from Austria and Germany, were enthusiastic Europeans. At that time it became clear to the representatives of this profession that only self-confident exceeding of the given borders, the transmission of new tasks and the gaining of new friends can guarantee and enlarge the profession.

Adelheid HellThis idea was also the basis of the Green Paper of a European Rechtspfleger, which was written by the E.U.R. in 2008. Mrs. Hell presented the basis, the purpose and the aim of this Green Paper. For reaching the goal of creating a uniform career profile of a European Rechtspfleger the present training, which is very different in the member countries of the E.U.R., has to be harmonized in any case. „A European Rechtspfleger - basically able to be appointed in all countries of the European Union - must have a uniform training, which is accepted in Europe. The idea of the Bologna process, started in 1999, which is to harmonize the national university courses in Europe in order to increase the mobility of the students and graduates, was taken into the Green Paper by the European Union of Rechtspfleger“ the general secretary emphasized. At the end of her remarks she pointed to the fact, that the realization needs a lot of work of convincing, which has been done by the President of the E.U.R. with discussions at different European Ministries of Justice.

Finally Mr. Kappl handed over the Green Paper for a European Rechtspfleger in six languages to Mr. Dr. Müller-Engelmann for the library of the study center.
